A legendary icon, prolific singer-songwriter, writer, actor, filmmaker and painter, Lucien Ginsburger (aka Serge Gainsbourg) is still with us today, and his work will forever be modern.
His daughter Charlotte recently decided to open the doors of her home at 5bis rue de Verneuil in Paris's 7th arrondissement. Opposite, at number 14, is a museum, a bookshop-boutique and the Gainsbarre: café by day and piano-bar by night. Together, these make up the Maison Gainsbourg, which aims to pass on the work and history of the author of L'Homme à tête de chou.
With the help of an audio guide and the voice of Charlotte Gainsbourg, visitors discover the artist's home, the site of his family life in Paris, but also an important element in the creation of his work. The house opens its doors as if time had stood still in 1991, and its opening to the public is a true invitation to enter the intimacy of Serge Gainsbourg. 30 minutes of emotion that can be combined with a visit to the museum, where you can discover over 400 objects that once belonged to the artist. The boutique and restaurant-bar, whose décor reproduces the atmosphere created by Serge Gainsbourg, are open to the public. In the evenings, when the restaurant is transformed into a piano bar, why not discover a jazz and blues program inspired by the standards played by Serge Gainsbourg?
